Slavneft-YANOS commissioned into operation a process unit for the disposal of hydrogen sulphide by the wet catalysis method
“Slavneft-YANOS” commissioned into operation a Wet Catalysis Unit (MK-2) which is designed for the utilization of hydrogen sulfide and the production of sulfuric acid. The new MK-2 unit will increase the production capacity of the enterprise without harming the environment. A similar process has been successfully used at YANOS since 2005.
The capacity of MK-2 process unit is designed to produce about 46 thousand tons per year of 98% sulfuric acid used in the process of sulfuric acid alkylation (producing alkylate - a high-octane gasoline component) or 48 thousand tons per year of 93% commercial sulfuric acid.
The project for the construction of a new unit was implemented within the framework of the long-term development program (strategy) of PJSC "Slavneft-YANOS" until 2035 as well as the Agreement on cooperation in the field of environmental protection between PJSC "Slavneft-YANOS", Rosprirodnadzor and the Government of the Yaroslavl Region.
“In 2017, the Year of Environment Protection in Russia, we signed an Agreement on cooperation in the field of environmental protection between our enterprise, the Government of the Yaroslavl Region and Rosprirodnadzor for a period of three years,” said Nikolay Karpov, General Director of PJSC “Slavneft-YANOS”. - Today we state that most of the measures stipulated by the Agreement have been completed, and among them one of the most significant is the construction of a new unit for the disposal of hydrogen sulfide by wet catalysis method.
“Preserving the environment is one of the main priorities in the activities of the Regional Government, and I am glad that our approaches in these matters coincide with the position of the company's management,” said Dmitry Mironov, Governor of the Yaroslavl Region. - The project was implemented within the framework of our agreement in the field of the environment and was implemented on schedule. It is gratifying that even the pandemic did not interfere with the plans. The enterprise did not stop working and, according to the results of the first half of the year, was able to maintain production volumes and the number of personnel.
